For nearly 25 years, the BMW Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament has generated millions of dollars in support of Upstate charities. The BMWCPA has made a significant, one-of-a-kind commitment to making this a 100% sustainable event through recycling, reusing, and composting waste rather than sending it to landfills. Once again this year, Friends of the Reedy River is leading the boots-on-the-ground effort toward achieving this commitment. Between Thursday, June 6 and Sunday, June 9, we need nearly 170 people to serve as our Green Team sustainability volunteers at Thornblade Club in Greenville and Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg. Each shift earns funding ($20-50 per shift) for volunteers’ designated, registered charities. We ask that volunteers be 18 or older. (More details will be provided closer to the start date.)
*Please ensure that you are registering for the correct location: Some of the shifts are at Thornblade Club and some are at Carolina Country Club.
Shift Details:
Clubhouse Sweep ($50/shift): Two people per shift will pull any full bags out of the waste and recycling collection containers in the Thornblade Clubhouse and the surrounding area and take them to the central collection point.
Course Sweep ($50/shift): Two people per golf cart will follow the cart paths along the first 9 holes or last 9 holes to check the waste and recycling collection containers, replace any full bags with fresh bags, and then load the full bags onto a golf cart and take them to the central collection point.
Hospitality Suites ($50/shift): Assist patrons in the hospitality suites in making sure they dispose of their trash and recycling in the correct containers and periodically replace any full bags with fresh bags.
End of Day ($20/shift): Assist Green Team leaders with end of day duties in the hospitality suites such as ensuring that all waste and recycling collection containers are prepared for the next day and that it has all been brought to the central collection point.
After you register (and most likely one week before the event), you will receive more details about picking up your credentials and Green Team t-shirts ahead of time, how/when to get to the venue, what to do once you get there, and duties you will be performing.
